It may seem counter-intuitive that shipping your car with an auto transport company can actually use less gas and be better for the environment. How can that be true when huge auto transporting trucks sometimes get only 5 mpg? It is simply a matter of math.
Lets say you drive your car that gets 20 mpg 1000 miles. You will use up 50 gallons of gas. Now lets take that truck from before- the one that gets 5 mpg and lets load it up with 10 cars. If we drive the same trip, it will take 200 gallons of gas. However, if each of those cars were driven separately, 10 x 50 gallons = 500 gallons of gasoline! So, by using a shipper for your car or truck, in total you are using 300 less gallons of fuel. This is quite a savings.
Aside from fuel savings, you save your car wear and tear to the tires, engine and exterior.
And those who are concerned with their carbon footprint can plainly see that shipping a car with an auto hauler is better for the environment than driving it yourself.
